Frequently Asked Questions

How does hosting a lemonade stand work?

STEP 1: SIGN UP TO HOST (YOU WILL RECEIVE A BOX OF SUNSHINE, AND YOUR STAND’S LOCATION IS ADDED TO OUR LIST HERE ON THE WEBSITE)

STEP 2: HOST YOUR LEMONADE STAND

STEP 3: DONATE YOUR PROFITS TO WRITE WITH LIGHT PROJECT (YOU’RE DONE! WE WILL COMBINE ALL DONASIGN UP TO HOSTTIONS AND DONATE THE PROFITS TO THE FONTAN GO CLINIC AT TEXAS CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL.)

You can choose to host a lemonade stand in your community on any day in August. After you sign up to host, you will be invited to a zoom call and sent a “box of sunshine” in July, containing all of the branding materials you need to market in your area and get the word out. You are required to donate 100% of the profits from your lemonade stand to Write With Light Project. We will collect all the funds from the lemonade stands and donations, and donate them to this year’s chosen cause. The 2024 Write With Light Project benefits the Fontan Go Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital. We will be having an informational zoom call soon (I will email you once we have that date set), so that everyone is on the same page!

What happens if I have to cancel my lemonade stand?

No one understands having to change plans better than a heart family! If you have to cancel, even at the last minute, just send us an email to let us know. No hard feelings!

What if I want to host a lemonade stand on a different date?

You can absolutely host a lemonade stand anytime to raise money for Write With Light Project! You won’t be on our “official” list here or receive a box of sunshine, but that certainly shouldn’t stop you from doing it when it is most convenient for you. Let us know when you plan to host a stand in your area, and we’ll be sure to give your stand a shout out!

In what ways can I be involved with Write With Light Project?

There are four ways to be involved with Write With Light Project:

  1. Host a lemonade stand

  2. Attend a Write With Light Project lemonade stand near you.

  3. Make an online donation

Why is it called Write With Light Project?

Before I was a heart mom, I was a traveling wedding photographer. The word “photograph” literally means “to write with light,” and the phrase is close to my heart because it is also the mantra by which I have always lived my life. In every scenario and in all of my interactions with others, I try to spread light and positivity. We are all leaving behind a story, whether we want to or not. I think our stories, regardless of the darkness written into them by circumstances, should be full of beautiful streaks of light. Sometimes, the light comes easily. And sometimes, you have to bring the light in yourself. And if you’re really committed to leaving behind a bright story, you will bring the light into the darker stories around you. This nonprofit was founded to bring that light into as many corners of the world as possible. (From Founder, Elizabeth Nichols)
